His most notable work in New York includes a 37-story, 450-foot luxury residential tower in Midtown West designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Álvaro Siza; a luxury residential development in Nolita designed by fellow Pritzker Laureate Tadao Ando; and a residential tower in West Chelsea designed by the renowned firm SCDA Architects.
He is currently developing several projects, including a 25-story, approximately 350,000 GSF tower in Upper Manhattan, as well as two Class A+ office developments totaling over 250,000 GSF in the South of Fifth neighborhood in Miami Beach, designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Eduardo Souto de Moura and master architect Alberto Campo Baeza.

In 1992, Mr. Sumaida founded Foundations Group, which has become one of the most respected non-union construction management firms in New York City. As a construction manager for both his own projects and those of third-party developers, he has overseen the construction of more than 2.5 million square feet, including luxury condominium developments, boutique hotels, office buildings, high-end residential interiors, and significant retail properties throughout Manhattan.
His work has been featured in leading publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, and The New Yorker, and exhibited at institutions such as the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, and Museum of Modern Art, among others.
